Download Land of Legends
(Windows only)
IMPORTANT: The installer is not signed (it's not cheap for a game I'm distributing freely), so Windows will show a "Windows protected your PC" message when you try to run the installer. Click "More info" and then "Run Anyway".
This is a very temporary placeholder download page for Land of Legends, a 2005 turn-based strategy game created by Tiny Hero Game Studios.
After being lost to time for at least 15 years, we were able to get the game running again. The game is being distributed completely free for now. At some point in the future it may be recreated or re-released, at which point we may stop distributing this free version.
Game Summary
Land of Legends is a lightweight but deceptively deep tactical turn-based strategy game. Players assume control of one of eight playable races, and battle for control of cities on a 16x16 map. The game shines in PvP, but the game also features a 32-mission campaign with two difficulty levels, plus a tutorial.
Known issues
- Internet Multiplayer mode has been disabled -- It was never fully stable, and we also don't have anywhere to host the online servers at this time. Hotseat mode is supported though!
- True full-screen support has been disabled -- But I was able to add dynamic window resizing to the windowed mode, and given that maximize window now works, true full-screen seems kind of pointless to bother fixing.
- When resizing the game window, it can flash and act really weird. But it works.
- Some battle animation sprites have been removed due to not working right. You won't miss them. They were horrible before, they're still horrible now. (I recommend turning them off battle animations once you've played the game for a while.)
- Game and company logos were removed from main menu. You won't miss them.
- 'X' button to close the game doesn't work. Sorry. Will fix later.
Changes in v2.0
- Game works again!
- Game window can be dynamically resized. The main game content remains 4:3 in all cases, and uses letterboxing for extra space.
- Some of the various .png images have been removed due to not working correctly -- battle animations and company/game logos.
- References to previous publisher (Shrapnel Games) have been removed
- Credits have been updated a bit
- Maximize and minimize controls were added
